A word about our Moroccan Sharks Teeth

All of our Moroccan Shark Teeth come from the high Moroccan desert in Africa. As such, the teeth are inherently soft and break easily due to the phosphate content of the matrix they were fossilized in. They are also Sharky's Shop oldest teeth. They come from the Cretaceous Epoch and are estimated between 20-30 million years old. This is when Tyrannosaurus was walking around the planet. That's very cool! Here at Sharky's Shop, we pre-harden the teeth with the University of Florida's method for Harding and preserving fossils. It is a process that incorporates "Butvar" a Harding and stabilizing thermoplastic that is dissolved in Acetone. The teeth are soaked in this solution for several hours and then rinsed in a clean Acetone bath to remove any outside films. The Acetone is wicked into the tooth and left to dry for three days.
